The Dog Days are upon us.

While we are sweltering in this heat, don’t give up on thinking cool thoughts, a dip, or sipping on something to refresh.

Perhaps, we can help. As we are not exactly instant gratification, I am guessing that September will keep these crazy hot temperatures, and our wines made this month can help then.

How about a 4 week California Chardonnay Riesling with the fresh flavours of green apple and citrus? A dry white light to medium bodied wine, with just a touch of untoasted oak to add a level of complexity, without being oaky. Great with rich holiday dinners, if you can wait that long. Wink, wink.

Staying in California, a 4 week Zinfandel Syrah, medium to medium-full, dry, jammy black fruit with raspberry notes and spice. Well balanced acidity and tannins make this a nice compliment to a special dinner or just sitting back, feet up and sipping..

I am just starting to get word on the wines that are going to be available for this coming season of Passport, LE23 and RQ24 wines. Exciting to be sure! Watch for details to come.

Happy Canada Day and three cheers to summer!

My one chance to go fishing this summer resulted in weather too hot for the fish to have any interest in, what I presumed, were tasty worms. Oh well, the wine I took on my holidays helped console me over the lack of fish. I hope that everyone gets a chance to sit back and find the beverage of choice to be sipped under an umbrella, as protection from the sun or the rain.

Ahhhh…summertime and the living is easy….

Is it? We all seem busier than ever, but a nice day tries to remind us to sit with our feet up in a comfy chair, enjoy a good book and cold drink. We have so many choices on the white wine spectrum. Cold, refreshing and packed with the flavours of summer.

Pretty lyrical for someone who is a devoted red drinker, don’t you think? Well there is certainly a place for red in the summer. Grilled meat and veg, Need I say more?

What? Did I ignore Rose? I would never do that. We have great choices that range from dry to sweet.. My point, and I do have one, is summer time is wine time.
